Allow me to briefly cover the topic of taking on debt. If you have a reasonable need, a sound program, a firm financial history, and a stable congregation, most banks will lend you the money to enter the building program. We strongly urge you not to wait three years until the money is in the bank to begin the building process. Waiting costs money, as inflation will drive the cost of construction and materials higher than they are today. Perhaps more importantly, potential enthusiasm and time are lost, and the growth of new members and ministries is delayed. The sooner you build, the less expensive it will be. In addition, when people see activity, it generates excitement--and excitement generates greater giving and participation in your campaign.
